The Power
of People

The Hunger Project.
Empowering women
and men to end their
own hunger.

Give Now

We believe hungry people themselves are the key to ending hunger. Once empowered, there is no one more determined, more willing and more capable to end their own hunger, than those living in the conditions of it. We unleash their vision, commitment and leadership so they can feed themselves and their families.

TOGETHER, WE CAN BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY.

OUR STRATEGIES PUT PEOPLE AT THE CENTRE OF THE SOLUTION

INTO ACTION

When women and men are trained and gain insight into their own capacities, they can take action themselves to improve their lives.

WOMEN ARE CRUCIAL

Women are crucial in food production. But they are often denied access to education, money or influential positions. Their potential remains unused. The Hunger Project encourages women to make their voices heard.

POWER AND INFLUENCE

The Hunger Project gives communities a voice in decision making so that they can access their rights to get clean water, education, healthcare, safety and infrastructure in their villages.

EPICENTRES

At the core of our work in Africa is the Epicentre Strategy. This is the development of people as leaders; for themselves and their communities. We now have 117 ‘clusters’ of African villages working together to end their hunger and poverty. The Hunger Project works with local people who understand the cultural, social, economic, political and environmental challenges. After a set period of training and guidance by The Hunger Project, our and their aim is to build a self-reliant future.

PARTNERING WITH GOVERNMENT

The Hunger Project works extensively with local authorities, especially close to the people in rural communities. It is often the responsibility of local authorities to provide basic services such as health, nutrition and education. In practice, it is often more difficult. With knowledge about local government, people can claim their rights.

WOMENS LEADERSHIP

The Hunger Project empowers women to become leaders in their village and local politics. Women are the key to the end of hunger. In India, The Hunger Project supports the Elected Women Representative in the village council so they find the power to effect change.
