TRANSFROMATIVE
LEADERSHIP

The Hunger Project.
Empowering women
and men to end their
own hunger.

GIVE NOW

Ending hunger requires a new kind of leadership: not top-down and authority-led, but leadership that awakens people to their own power — leadership “with” people rather than leadership “over” people.

SHIFTING MINDSETS

No matter where you live or where you were born, awakening people to their own potential and leadership begins by understanding and shifting limiting mindsets and entrenched beliefs that leave them resigned, dependent and devoid of dignity.

The core of our work is the recognition and belief that the people themselves – people living in conditions of hunger be it physical (illiteracy, malnourishment and subjugation) or mental (isolation, disconnection or resignation) – are the key resources in ending hunger.

The change starts from within. Shifting the mindset from ‘I can’t, to ‘I can’, to ‘we can’ creates change at an individual level and on a global level too.

IMAGINE YOU’VE GROWN UP IN A VILLAGE, LIVING IN HUNGER AND POVERTY. IT’S ALL YOU’VE EVER KNOWN. IT’S LIKE THAT NOW AND IT’S ALWAYS BEEN LIKE THAT. THE FUTURE LOOKS LIKE AN EXTENSION OF THE PAST. INTERRUPTING THAT THINKING ABOUT WHAT THE FUTURE COULD LOOK LIKE IS THE SILVER BULLET TO WHAT WE DO AND THE FOUNDATION OF OUR WORK IN TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES FROM THE IMPOSSIBLE TO THE POSSIBLE.

“The hunger project is about helping individuals to shift into a mindset that says they can actually solve their own hunger…the first thing you have to do is get an individual to shift their behaviour, and if you get enough individuals to shift their behaviours then the entire village will change.”

EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP THROUGH VISION, COMMITMENT AND ACTION

People are creative and resourceful. Unlocking this begins by participating in a Vision, Commitment and Action (VCA) Workshop which, through our  innovative methodology, inspires people to move from “I CAN’T” to “I CAN” and ultimately to “WE CAN”.

Through participation in our training, people set a vision for themselves and their communities then lay out the actions they will take to achieve that vision. Powerful change occurs when a community aligns behind a shared vision and believe the end of hunger is possible.

This groundbreaking social transformation methodology has impacted the lives of 4.1 million people across the African continent and Bangladesh who have participated in a VCA Workshop.
