Our Mission

The Hunger Project is committed to ending
hunger and poverty by pioneering sustainable,
grassroots, women-centered strategies and
advocating for their widespread adoption
in countries throughout the world.

A world where every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity.

We know it’s possible for hunger to end, and that our generation has the power to end it once and for all. In our experience, people who live in hunger are not the problem – they are the solution. We don’t see a billion mouths to feed, we see a billion human beings who are enterprising and resilient. The work, therefore, is to unlock their capacity, creativity and leadership so they can end their own hunger. That’s what we do.

Have you ever asked yourself “Is there more to life than this?”. We believe there is more to life than just consuming. We are all hungry for something – meaning, purpose, connection, contribution, making a difference. At the core of this is human dignity and knowing our lives matter. We know that when you give, you get more in return. In a world where we are searching for more, partnering with those who need it most, makes life richer.

We are all connected and our actions are shaped by, and affect, all other people and our natural environment. Hunger and poverty are not problems of one country or another but are global issues solved as global citizens.

Ending hunger sustainably ensures that every woman, man and child leads a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity. Because hunger is related to a nexus of issues, solving hunger impacts; environmental issue such as climate change and our ability to survive crisis; it raises the status of women and girls creating gender equality; provides economic opportunities which do not drain resources and people thrive. Human dignity becomes the standard by which we all live, leaving no one behind. In short, the world works. For you, for me, for everyone.

What’s more, we all have a part to play. Find yours by joining the movement of people rising up to end hunger by 2030.
