#ElectedtoLead: Pushpa Devi.
Pushpa Devi, proud ward member in the Sevahi Gram Panchayat, Bihar, India, is passionate about the importance of education.
She put herself forward to become the first woman elected as secretary for the school management committee in her Panchayat. Driven by the lack of enthusiasm she had seen by the school, Pushpa was determined to do her part to keep young women in school and encourage them to use their education to achieve their dreams.
Pushpa is actively changing lives by encouraging women to think and speak for themselves, and to recognise their own worth and potential. In advocating against child marriages, Pushpa helps to ensure that young women and children have the best chance at life and have the potential to be change makers themselves through quality education and improved opportunities.
“
I am working to ensure that women can fearlessly demand their rights. The day we let fear overpower us the battle is lost.
